James is an accomplished musician.  He has studied harp with several prominent teachers, including Francis Tientov at the St. Louis Conservatory of Music.  Jim is currently the principal harpist with the Des Moines Metro Opera Company during their annual summer season. Jim also enjoys playing a wide variety of venues here in the Twin Cities, including orchestra work, weddings, parties and events.  He has been heard in the pit orchestras of many touring Broadway shows, most recently for this season's tour of Cinderella, and he is also a touring performer, bringing his unique brand of solo  harp performance to many people throughout the Midwest.

Harp music is the perfect accompaniment to any special occasion. Jim can perform all the music required for a wedding ceremony, from prelude to postlude. Special requests is a specialty, and working with your soloist is never a problem. The wedding process starts with a consultation in the harpist's home studio. This is a great chance to hear harp music in person, and to ask any questions you might have. If you decide to book, you can make your music selections right there.

For Receptions and Parties, Jim can provide background music in a variety of styles. The typical plan for a reception or party would be to play a mix of musical styles, including Classical, Folk and Celtic, and, of course, Pops! He can also accommodate virtually any size room, from a small intimate party in your home, to a grand ballroom in a local hotel. Amplification is available at no additional charge.

Jim is also available to play with or accompany local ensembles. The harp is a beautiful addition to a church service, and is especially good when you need to set a relaxed, pensive mood.
