Depending on the performance, Colt .45 performs progressive bluegrass or contemporary country music...and sometimes both. Founded in 1994, Colt .45 was soon winning local and state contests, earning state music academy nominations, and was selected "Band of the Year" by the Minnesota Ballroom Operators Association. The group has appeared on television more than 25 times, including an acapella performance of "The Star Spangled Banner" on ESPN2, and has made more than 40 radio appearances. With five lead vocalists and five distinctly different tastes in music, the Colt .45 Newgrass Hour is bringing a fresh, new vibrancy to the midwest bluegrass scene. Pulling in songs from all genres of music, they perform the music of Paul McCartney, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Blind Faith, and Poco, but they don't ignore the traditional sounds made famous by Bill Monroe, The Stanley Brothers, and John Hartford. With more than 175 years of combined musical experience, this quintet will surprise you with their talents and fresh, 
new attitude about live bluegrass music.
